'HORROR' AS DOCTOR CUTS OPEN WRONG PATIENT'S HEAD-REPORTS

Two men had been wheeled into the hospital in the previous weekend. One needed a surgery to remove a blood clot in his head and the other man only needed nursing and medication to heal a trauma swelling in hid head. The doctor(a Kenyan) who was performing the surgery mistakenly performed it on the wrong patient, i.e the one who only came for nursing and medication.

It was then realised later during the surgery that they were dealing with the wrong patient when they discovered that the patient had no blood clot in the brain. The hospital said that it had done all it could to ensure the safety and the well-being of the patient in question, they also suspended the doctor who was responsible for the surgery. But other doctors are against the suspension of their colleague. They state that it is nurses who wrongly labelled the patients and that the doctor did nothing wrong.

Mistakes happen everywhere and we learn from them, but I am not saying people should make as many mistakes as they can. I also think the doctor is innocent in this case because the patient was brought to him/her with that label, what should he/she have done?

  1. I think the doctor who performed a surgery did nothing wrong, as his/her colleagues say, people who deserve being suspended are the nurses who labelled a wrong patient.

  8. Both the nurses and the doctor should take responsibility for what happened to the patient. Even though the doctor has done nothing wrong but should be suspended.

  9. The nurse is the one to be blamed. How on earth can a nurse do something so careless. The doctor did nothing wrong because he was told the patient's name and saw the name tag

  10. It was really not the Doctors fault , Nurses nowadays dread their work , it is as if they were forced to be Nurses .

  11. At the end of the day she's human, no matter how qualified she can be all humans are bound to make mistakes she cant be punished for that! As long as the patient is fine both the doctor and the nurse should be given a second chance and avoid repeating the same incident in the future.

  12. I don't think that it is a great idea that the doctor should be suspended because truly he did nothing wrong and everyone makes mistakes. It is obvious that the nurse is the one who is wrong because she's the one who referred patients to the doctor.
